Sometimes we know that something just isn't right but cannot seem to find our way through. At times you may feel that you are alien to others because of the issues that you might be facing, but in reality you are unique and there maybe a period in your life where you are unable to manage those issues. Counselling can help you to work through them, giving you skills and coping strategies to modify behaviour, thoughts and feelings to promote a positive self-image and way of life.
My goal is to support you through your journey of past and present in order for you to make sense of yourself in relation to you're personal experiences.
The subconscious mind can be described as a holding place for experiences. In order to protect ourselves we may choose to suppress emotion that arise when significant events have had a negative impact upon us, counselling and psychotherapy helps you to understand how those associated thoughts and feelings can maintain negative patterns of behaviour.
My aim is to assist you in identifying these to form new ways of perceiving and behaviour for a more empowered you.
I have a Bsc in Naturopathic therapy an holistic approach to treating discomfort and dis-ease and included psychological work in combination with treating the physiology and biology, where I practised for two years in this field. This type of work took me on my own journey of self-discovery into exploring deeper the theories around psychology, and so after my training I then decided to focus more on working with the psychological influences on health. I pursued a diploma in counselling and to date have had three years of experience as a counsellor working with the full range of client groups; Adults, adolescents and children. Based on my previous training I felt compelled to work with individuals who are experiencing psychosomatic disorders.
Domestic abuse is something that I am familiar with and have had previous successes working with, domestic abuse victims in supporting them to reach a place of safety both mentally and actually. My training includes the freedom programmes living with the dominator which highlights the different ways in which a dominator/ perpetrator can exert power and control over another which ultimately results in a mental manipulation and breaking down of the character and self-esteem of the victim and also child sexual abuse training which looks at the ways in which a young person is manipulated and coerced into behaviours that leave them feeling blame, guilt, hurt and shamed.

I specialise in these specific areas;
Domestic abuse, The UK government’s definition of domestic violence is ‘any incident or pattern of incidents of controlling, coercive, threatening behaviour, violence or abuse between those aged 16 or over who are, or have been, intimate partners or family members regardless of gender or sexuality.
Domestic abuse includes; Physical abuse, financial abuse, emotional abuse, coercive control, Honour-based violence, online and digital abuse, abuse by proxy, female genital mutilation and forced marriage.
Psychosomatic disorders; Psychosomatic disorder is a disease which involves the mind and body, it can be magnified and perpetuated by stress. To put it simply under stressful conditions excess amounts of cortisol ( a chemical messenger) is released into the body this continuous feedback loop can result in the manifestation of pain in the body. In relation to the psychological aspect there is a dissociation between emotions and particular stressful events, the trauma (stress) of the event acts on the body resulting in unexplained pain.
